Scott's sports memorabilia collection began with the gift of a Los Angeles Dodgers World Series worn jersey from family friend, Bill Russell.  Bill was also instrumental in introducing Scott to Tommy LaSorda and most of the L.A. Dodgers.  We attended spring training in Vero Beach, Florida as often as possible and also traveled to L.A. to watch the Dodgers play.  After Scott came up with the idea of taking his collection "on the road" in order to raise money for cancer research, we attempted to put together a video explaining the collection and its purpose.  Tommy agreed to appear in the video but the taping session became a piece of stand up comedy and was never really useful for its intended purposes.  Never the less when we need a good laugh, we love to watch Scott and Tommy attempting to tell the world about Scott's sports collection.  Scott was so nervous with Tommy looking on that he time and time again messed up the scripted words.  Suddenly, right in the middle of filming Tommy stopped everything and attempted to give Scott a lesson in on camera performance.  Before it was over they were both hysterical as was the camera man and all others in the room.

Year after year when we would return to watch the Dodgers, Tommy LaSorda went out of his way to remember Scott, to call him by name and to have lengthy conversations with him.  One year after watching Tommy throw batting practice Scott announced that perhaps Tommy should take Orel Hershisher's place in the pitching rotation.  For the rest of this story, see the photo of Scott with Orel who didn't take to Scott's suggestion all that well.
